Psychologist and social scientist Dacher Keltner says the rich really are different, and not in a good way: Their life experience makes them less empathetic, less altruistic, and generally more selfish.

One likes to think that there is some fantastic limbo for the children of imagination, some strange, impossible place where the beaux of Fielding may still make love to the belles of Richardson, where Scott’s heroes still may strut, Dicken’s delightful Cockneys still raise a laugh and Thackeray’s wordlings continue to carry their reprehensible careers. so, i just got back a couple nights ago from two weeks in the wilds of wyoming, bushwhacking/pioneering/&etc with very limited internet (the last few posts have been a queue; surprise!)
SO if i have not yet gotten back to you on various things SORRY ! and i will be running around amending that asap! I know messages to gatheringbones, ceasg, ofshalott, and gallows-bird have all been eaten (arrrrgh tumblr); apologies and bear with this
i was also greeted by multiple messages suggesting submitting text posts to thwart tumblr’s message-eating evils (y’all are so smart), so that’s on the way as soon as i can find the location of the doohickey to turn it on.
